New position in Ion Physics Uppsala

at the Department of Physics and Astronomy

Appointment period: The position can be held for a maximum of 4 years.

Nature of duties: This is a principally a research appointment but will also involve teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and supervision of doctoral students. The expected research will be performed with the existing 5MV tandem accelerator and the 350 kV high current ion implanter systems.

Qualifications required: To qualify for appointment as Assistant Professor/Research Associate you must have a PhD. Priority is given to applicants who have completed their PhD within 5 years of the application deadline. Even those applicants that received their PhDs earlier should be given priority if special circumstances exist. Special circumstances are prolonged periods of illness, parental leave, military service, union duties and others of similar character. According to Uppsala University’s employment regulations, it is also a general requirement that teachers possess the necessary skills to carry out their duties proficiently.

The ability to teach in Swedish or English is a requirement.

Criteria for ranking: In ranking qualified applicants particular importance will be attached to scientific excellence. Applicants with experimental research experience in basic and applied ion solid interactions with applications in materials analysis (IBA) and materials modification (IBMM) will be given first priority. Experience and interest in IBA methods and particularly in medium energy ions scattering (MEIS) is highly desirable. The ability to cooperate, good oral and written communication skills, and teaching proficiency are required.

Applicants with research experience within basic and applied ion solid interactions with applications in materials analysis (IBA) and materials modification (IBMM) will be given first priority. Experience in IBA methods and particularly in medium energy ions scattering (MEIS) is highly desirable.
