The Materials and Processes for Micro & Nano Technologies of the Politecnico di Torino (www.polito.it/micronanotech) is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in the field of biophotonics.

The position is within the framework of a three-years European FP7 project on optical biosensing . The applicant is required to have a strong background in experimental optics and electronics, expertise in computational photonics, and skills in computer programming (MATLAB and LABVIEW). Experience in the interdisciplinary field of biosensing and biophotonics will be an asset. Candidates should have an excellent track record of high-impact scientific research and an excellent level of both written and spoken English is mandatory.
The successful candidate will be involved in the design of proper photonic nanostructures aimed at biosensing and the setting up of dedicated experimental arrangements for fluorescence/based and label free detection of molecular biomarkers. In addition, the successful candidate will participate to activities related to surface functionalization and nanometric chemical patterning of the photonic transducers.
The hosting group can offer an interdisciplinary environment in which physicists, engineers, chemists and biotechnologists operate in team. A number of state-of-the-art micro and nanofabrication facilities are accessible for supporting the realization of the photonic devices.
The position has a three-year duration. Net salary is roughly 2KEUR per month, with possibilities of integrations depending of the candidate qualifications.
Foreseen activity start in autumn 2012.
